Longtime Purchasing Executive For Red Food Stores

Gary Gene Suttles, 59, of Hixson, died on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Erlanger Hospital.

He was born in Rhea County on Dec. 17, 1947. A graduate of Chattanooga High School, Mr. Suttles attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

After 24 years of service as a purchasing executive for Red Food Stores, Mr. Suttles became a private business consultant. He was a past board member for the grief counseling service, �Sunrise at Midnight� and also served as an elder and past treasurer of Ooltewah Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Suttles was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Suttles.

He is survived by his son, Brandon E. Suttles, who is a senior at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tn.; his mother, Henrietta Smith Suttles, of Hixson; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Glenn Carter; and nephew, Matthew Carter, all of Cranberry, N.J.

Funeral services will be conducted at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Langham and the Rev. Sam Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends for visitation Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Erlanger Hospital for its care of Mr. Suttles and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Erlanger Cancer Program, c/o Gigi Johnson, 975 E. Third St., Chattanooga, TN 37403.
