Ervin, Snyder Daniel "De De" IV

Snyder Daniel “Dede” Ervin IV, 61, died on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at home.

Dan was born in Chattanooga, a graduate of Chattanooga High School in 1966. He was a Chattanooga police officer prior to serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, as a Corporal. He also served as Funeral Honor Guard during his military enlistment.

He had a career in the Rent-to-Own business with several companies, Rent-A-Center and later was president of TV Rental Distribution, DBA Colortyme. He was an entrepreneur at heart with numerous endeavors.

He will be remembered for his zest for life and his love for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Snyder (Bill) and Gladys Brown Ervin, of Chattanooga.

He is survived by his son, Derek Ervin Dyer and wife Carrie, of West Virginia; daughter, Cheryl Johnson and husband Cody, of Washington; brother, Lewis Ervin and wife Ann, sister, Betty McDaniel of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, one aunt and uncle; girlfriend, Annissa Witt of East Ridge.

A memorial service will be held at National Cemetery On Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Ricky Brown officiating and readings from the family.

Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Dan’s life at the home of his daughter’s mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Navy & Marine Corps Relief Society.
