Herbert Herb Andrew Morris, 62, of Mowbry Mountain, died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009.

He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and earned the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

His early career years were involved with the building of Sequoyah Nuclear Plant through the Carpenters Local where he maintained a 30-year membership. He was skilled across several disciplines and last worked with Sheetmetal Engineering Specialists until his retirement.

Herb fully enjoyed his bountiful world through his love for fishing, exploration, treasure hunting, wood carving and scenery painting. His carvings can be found in homes and businesses from Ringgold to Nashville.

His easy-going charisma, generosity and courageous, bigger-than-life spirit earned the admiration and love of a broad array of friends and acquaintances. He was happiest when helping a friend or family member.

His survivors include two daughters, Margie Lennon of Boston, Ma., and Tara Morris of Chattanooga; sister, Paula (John) Parker; brother, Jack Morris; and mother, Doris Poindexter Morris, all of Chattanooga.

Herb was preceded in death by his father, Jack Morris Sr. and his brother, Timothy Stratton Morris.

A memorial service will be held for his friends at the River Inn on Suck Creek Rd., on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 2-5 p.m. Pictures and memories are welcome and encouraged.

A family service to place Herb's memorial stone alongside his brother's grave is planned at Forest Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carpenters Local Chaplain's Fund for family emergencies.
