Gayle Carter Simpkins, 63, daughter of William L. and
Tommie Gossett Carter, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011.
She was born
in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on September 26, 1948.
Gayle was a graduate of City High School with honors
and a member of the National Honor Society.
She was a graduate of Memphis
State University, majoring in French and Journalism, and was editor of the
yearbook.
She was also named "Miss Memphis State", and was a member of Delta
Gamma Society.
Gayle
was an active member of the Republican Party and had served as Assistant Press
Secretary to Governor Winfield Dunn.
She had been an Investigative Reporter
in Fort Myers, Florida.
At the present time, she was Computer Analyst at
Carter Distributing Company.
She was an active member of Thankful Memorial
Episcopal Church.
She was a member of Chattanooga Advertising Club.
Gayle was preceded in death by her mother, Tommie
Gossett Carter and a sister, Lynda Carter./span>
Survivors are her father, William L. "Bill" Carter;
two brothers, Blair Carter and Bill Carter; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home.
SServices will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, at
the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Leyla King
officiating.
Entombment will be at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
